FIRE DRILL EXERCISE AT GRAND BLUEWAVE HOTEL SHAH ALAM
On 10 April 2014, Grand BlueWave Hotel Shah Alam (GBWHSA) has conducted fire drill exercise  for its hotel employees as part of its continuous efforts to ensure safety and security at the hotel involving 120 staffs and managements.


The fire drill also included 2 Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and was monitored by 21 fire fighters and 2 observers from The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department Section 15 Shah Alam, Selangor led by the Head of Department, Tuan Mohd Khairi bin Daud and observed by Mr. Ab Ghafar and Mr. Hanapiah bin Mohd Khan from Fire Department Training Unit.
     
    

Fire absorber was used to disperse the real smoke fire in one of the rooms and water jet’s pressure was tested and being operated to put off the fire. One unit of ambulance from Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang was also engaged to help the fire victims.
Two victims who needed immediate first aid was rescued by the ERT Team from a room on the 5th floor of the said premise.









 



During the drill, the employees were updated on the latest review of safety and security measures while being trained to handle emergencies, especially fire, in a quick and calm manner.


Every head of departments performed a head count to make 
sure that all employees were safe and accounted for as soon as they reached the fire evacuation area behind the hotel.

 The objective of the fire drill is to equip the staffs with safety knowledge, experience and practice to enable them to act calm and not to panic if any crisis occurs.
“Safety and security are paramount in our industry and these regular drills assist us in further improving our standards. Hence, this fire drill activity is done annually to ensure that the hotel staff know exactly what to do in critical situations,” said the Hotel Manager, Tuan Haji Mohd Ghazali bin Sayed Ibrahim.

Guests at the hotel were notified of the routine exercise in advance to avoid any inconvenience. - END -
